Hyde is the Place for some Pre-loved Christmas Wheels

Date Released - 16/11/2022

WANT to buy your child a bike for Christmas but don’t fancy the sky-high prices? Have no fear – fully serviced pre-loved bikes are available at great prices.

Following the success of the summer’s pre-loved bike sale in Stalybridge, Tameside Council has teamed up with Clarendon Square Shopping Centre and Manchester Bike Kitchen – a not-for-profit community interest company – to organise a Christmas-themed event in Hyde on Saturday, November 26.

It takes place in a pop-up shop in the former Shoe Zone store, Rutherford Way, between 11am and 3pm and there will be some great bargains on offer. Prices start from only £25, so it’s the perfect opportunity to pick up a low-cost present for a loved one.

Please note that payment is by card only.

The majority of bikes will be for children, but there will be some adult ones too. You can also take your own bicycle to get minor repairs and free BikeRegister anti-theft marking.

Cllr Eleanor Wills, Tameside Council’s executive member for population health and wellbeing, said: “As a parent myself, I fully understand the difficulties people face this Christmas in matching their children’s hopes and expectations with the soaring cost of living.

“Fortunately, pre-loved sales like the one at Clarendon Square make good-quality, refurbished bikes accessible and affordable. Bicycles are also a great deal more than being the present so many children want at Christmas. Riding them is good for the environment and personal wellbeing too.”

“I’d like to thank Clarendon Square Shopping Centre and Manchester Bike Kitchen for their invaluable support in staging the sale."
